Let us know what you have learned about Architecture and what interests you about the subject. Please comment on the Digital Media course and the assignments and if you feel like you have learned anything (if so what have you learned). Also give us any suggestions on the course and what you believe will make it better or a funner experience, or if there is something in specific you would like to learn.
Take this opportunity to ask anything about the course (why are doing what we're doing) or anything you may want to know about the College of Architecture, arch organizations, or anything related to architecture. Everyone feel free to answer, comment, or add to each others comments.

Would it be possible to do a M.C.Esher styled assignment?
Matthew, you could have done something similar with the architecture collage as with M.C. Esher's drawings
Section 596
I have learned that a lot of architecture requires time and patience to get through. I'm interested in how the spatial concepts we're learning now will apply to future real world situations.
The digital stuff seems to be unrelated to what we're doing in our studio. Will the projects ever line up with each other like in future studios? I think this class would be more helpful if we were directly taught how to use the programs more in depth.
Section 596
I have learned from the Digital Media class to view things in a new perspective and not just objects or building. From architecture I have learned to repesct everything more and that timing is important.

Hello, just testing this thing out...

I feel that the organization of the site is a little unorganized, but that could just be because I'm unfamiliar with the blog as of yet. As for the assignment, i really like them but some clarity on exactly what ya'll are looking for would be nice too. The projects overall seem to do a good job of introducing us to the digital programs.
Caitlin, the original plan was to work closely with the studio professor in order to collaborate with assignments. Yet this fell through and so we are where we are. You are more than welcome to let us know what you are working on in studio and we can see how we can incorporate our assignments with that. We are unable to go too much into depth with the programs (that may be getting more into graphic design) since we may lack the time, even so there are some students that are still struggling at learning the basics.
Yet that is why we have office hours, if you have questions on how to do certain things on the programs we may help. If we may not know the answer we may be able to give you references to find the answer.
Steven
Do you mean the layout of the site is unorganized? if so which parts?
As for the assignments, I would like you all to explore and be as creative as you can, and if I begin implementing strict guidelines on them you will not be able to do so. I also do not wish all your projects to begin looking the same.

Architecture so far has been a completely new experience. I never knew it would involve so much time, but so far everything has been interesting.
I am still struggling when in comes to photoshop and illustrator, but every assignment gives me the opportunity to explorer the program and learn more.

Although I'm not sure this is the correct place to post this, Jose said that we should post any questions we had on the wiki.
So my questions is, for the small project where we have to take a photograph of our ARCH-1412 model and make it into a line drawing, does the picture have to be from a certain view point or angle. Or can we use any picture that captures the entire model?
Any picture, yet an angled view displays a better perception of space within your model.

I think it's great that this class has taught us the basics of photoshop. It's definitely going to be helpful in the future. Not only with architecture, but with other subjects too. Plus, if we weren't forced to buy CS5 in this class, I'm not sure I ever would. It wasn't cheap though...
This year has been a really new experience for me. Coming from high school we never really had classes such as Digital Media and Architecture Studio. Both of these classes take up a lot of time having to be very efficient and careful with what your doing. Struggling with photoshop and illustrator at the beginning of the semester, i am starting to understand the basics of these programs. Adobe Illustrator is starting to teach me a lot about the structure of buildings and simple strategies that can progress into new ideas. Each time i attend Digital Media i learn more and more being beneficial to Studio as well. Hopefully at the end of this semester i will master my skills with Adobe and other programs along with it.

I have learned a little bit more about the structural part of Architecture during this year. I am glad we are learning about more programs but i wish we could have tutorials over more Adobe programs.

Architecture interests me in many ways. Using space and void to create designs and buildings interests me very much. The digital media course is great because it is allowing me to use differnt programs and experience digital design. I would like to see more tutorials on how to work the programs though if at all possible.
Aujehl Messier Section 596
I've learned that Architecture isnt just about your ideas about a building. Its more about spacial context and making sure that what you offer is interesting, from both customer and employer standpoints.
As for the Digital Media projects, I've learned how to use the programs a bit better. I feel like it would be more beneficial, if there were more outside things you could go to inorder to keep up/learn more about the programs.
Aujehl, there are tons of tutorials out in the web for all the Adobe programs we are using, the only problem is which to start with.
